Google announced the suspension of the Chinese e-commerce application Pinduoduo last week, and urged users to uninstall the application if it was downloaded to the devices.
Google described the application as malicious and warned that it could allow unauthorized access to user data or device.
The company that owns the app, PDD Holdings, rejected allegations that its app contains malicious code, and did not respond to requests for comment on Monday.
Igor Golovin, a security researcher at Kaspersky, explained that some versions of the Pinduoduo app contained malicious code that exploited vulnerabilities in the Android system to escalate privileges and download and perform additional malicious operations
